Profile of Participants

The Youth on the Move: Let's go Global! is one concept developed by the Youth & Globalisation Project Team which is intrinsically aimed at gathering 75 active youths from all over Europe in order to explore and act on new efficiently working tools and strategies for promoting a bolder active young citizenship in local communities, thus making globalisation work also at the grass-root level.

Working language

The working language for the Youth on the Move: Let's go Global! International Congress is English. All participants chosen are able to work and deliberate in the English Language.

Travel Arrangments
You need to make your own travel arrangments to reach the city of Maastricht, Netherlands. The city itself is quite central between the busy hubs of Brussels, Amsterdam and Dusseldorf/Frankfurt. In fact, it is best for you to reach these cities and then by train you can reach the city of Maastricht.

Please note that Maastricht also has a small airport. For further information, you can browse www.whichbudget.com and see how you can easily reach Maastricht.

Please note that the Project Team CANNOT provide any travel assistance and therefore all travel expenses are to be incurred by the participants themselves.

When you are making your travel arrangements, please note that the programme will start on 5th April in the morning and therefore, you need to reach Maastricht the night before!

You can then leave on Saturday 9th April in the morning because we will be arranging for you nights at the hotel.

Visa Arrangements
For all those of you who require visa, this can be acquired through the Embassies of the Netherlands or any other EU Country in your own country. Please note that you will need to have a VALID PASSPORT to be issued a visa!

The Project Team and AEGEE Maastricht will be providing you with an invitation letter once you are selected so you can proceed with your own visa arrangments. All visa costs are to be borne by the participant.

Please also note that neither the YG Team nor AEGEE Maastricht can be held responsible for any rejections of granting of visas by the Embassies for Netherlands. From our side, we will try to do all which is possible in order to ensure that all our participants are granted a visa yet we cannot offer any guarantees for this as this does not unfortunately depend on us.

Accommodation
The Youth & Globalisation Project Team will provide board and lodging for the participants at a centrally-located hotel in Maastricht which is actually a Boat-Hotel on the Maas River.

If you would like us to book you some extra days, the YG Team can do that but then it will be you as participant who will pay for these extra nights.

Participation Fee
The participation fee to the Youth on the Move: Let's go Global! International Congress will be of:
50 EUR for EU Participants
40 EUR for non-EU Participants

This includes accommodation, meals and the necessary materials given during the International Congress. In addition, the participation fee also covers an evening social programme and cultural visits in the city of Maastricht .

Workshops
It is important to note that a good part of the programme includes workshop sessions whre you can voice your concerns – you will be asked to choose the Workshop which you would like to attend. There are five workshops to choose from: Youth Empowerment; Peace and Stability; Intercultural Dialogue: International Development; Social Cohesion.

During the plenary sessions then you will have the chance to discuss and debate on the other themes.
