This seminar is scheduled to take
place in Moskva and Sankt Petersburg, Russia, 2-11 July 2004. The main topics addressed
are:
- History and culture in order to
set the background of the discussion.
- Russian Empire, Soviet Union and Europe.
- Stereotypes, similarities with
and differences from the rest of Europe.
- Relations Russia-EU after the
disintegration of the Soviet Union
- Hot issues on the current
agenda of the relations (trade relations, challenges raised by EU
enlargement, human rights in Chechnya, freedom of expression)
- Is there a European identity
including Russia?
- Case (more detailed analysis):
The Community of Independent States (CIS) - Politics, diplomacy, military,
economics.
- Case: Russia between "Old Europe"
and USA (Iraq war).
- Simulation: Russia-EU-Summit
dealing with the problems raised by the EU enlargement (e.g. compensation
for Russia for the loss in trade due to
the EU enlargement).
