Goran Janev has a B.A. in ethnology and a M.A. in sociology from the "Sts Cyril and Methodius" University, Skopje. Currently at the University of Oxford he is reading for a D.Phil. in social anthropology. His research falls under the political anthropology and more narrowly, his interest is in ethnicity and plural societies, and is directly concerned with the Albanians and Macedonians in Macedonia. For five years he was employed as an assistant at the Centre for Ethnic Relations at the Institute for Sociological and Political and Juridical Research - "Sts Cyril and Methodius" University, Skopje. Parallel to this was his engagement in the work of various NGOs and other initiatives and projects dealing with the protection of human and especially minority rights. His knowledge in this area was enriched by the participation in two summer schools: - the first was organized by International Human Rights Institute - Strasbourg and the second was in joint organization of the University of Oxford and George Washington University. |
