Frank Burgdörfer studied in Potsdam, Marburg, Göteborg, Giessen, and München. He holds a Master's Degree in Accounting and Finance (Handelshogskolan Göteborg, 1996) and University diplomas in Economics (JLU Giessen, 1997) and Political Sciences (Hochschule für Politik München, 2000). The title of this last thesis was "The European Community and the dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia."

Between 1997 and 1999 Frank was President of the "International Politics Working Group" of the European Students' Forum AEGEE. He coordinated various projects of the association. Currently he works at the Center for Applied Policy Research, an institute at Munich University.
