Oana-Valentina Suciu is a political sociologist; she holds a University
degree of the niversity of Bucharest in the sociology of transition in
Central and Eastern Europe. Between 1998-1999 she was an OSI/FCO scholar
at the University of Oxford, UK, where she accomplished a research on
the issue of the multiculturalism and ethnic minorities rights in Central
and Eastern Europe.
Former Program Director of the Institute for Political and Economic Research
in Bucharest, currently she is the Communications Director of the Romanian
Academic Society, being in charge with several research programmes regarding
human rights, civic education and survey data analysis. She is also an
assistant lecturer at the University of Bucharest, in the English Department
of the Faculty of Political Sciences, where she teaches political sociology.
Additionally she is collaborating with the parlamentarian group of the
ethnic minorities in the Chamber of Deputies, accomplishing research about
the political representation of ethnic minorities in Central and Eastern
Europe, this being the main interest field at the moment.
Oana is editing the Foreign Policy Review of the Romanian Academic Society
and she is co-author of the first political science handbook in Romania.
She currently publishes in "The Political Sphere Review", in the "Ararat"
magazine, and in other journals.
