Introducing the EMU
In the next few years Europe will face economic changes that are unprecedented in history. The most visible sign will be the project of introducing a single currency in the European Union. This does of course require huge efforts and big changes in Europe. These changes do not only have economic, political and social implications, they will affect our feelings, and our perception of a nation.
The role of young people
Young Europeans, being educated today, are going to be tomorrow’s decision-makers. The young generation has to be a major target group for the necessary promotion concerning the EMU. Therefore AEGEE has developed the project "Europe and Euro...", aiming especially at young people in Europe. Being the largest interdisciplinary students association in Europe, AEGEE has the infrastructure and organisational experience to fulfil this task. Only with an open and honest campaign, by providing information, stating the positive and negative aspects of such a change and through an open discussion, will it be possible to create awareness among the young generation. Finally these young people will act as multipliers and spread the information about the EMU among other young people and their families.
