Join the AEGEE Election Observation Training!

After the great success of the first edition in October 2015, AEGEE Election Observation is planning a second edition for September 2016. We would be glad to have you as our partner organisation!

Training Köln 2015

What is the Training about?

The AEGEE Election Observation Training brings together 24 young people (aged 18-30 years) from 8 European countries to receive a basic education in the principles and methods of international election observation.

However, we consider political understanding as important as practical skills. The purpose of the Training is not just to train its participants as election observers, but also to put theory and practice of international election observation in its political context, providing a space for questions from "Why do we observe elections?" to "Is democracy really the best form of government?".

Basic information

The following information is still to be confirmed, but likely:

– Venue: Udine, Italy
– Date: September 2016
– Duration: 6 days / 7 nights
– Participants: 30 (including 6 trainers)

The programme is developed by the AEGEE Election Observation project team in cooperation with all partner organisations (whose input is optional, but welcome).

Why be a partner?

We are looking for youth organisations from Partner Countries to support our Erasmus+ application (Key Action 1; Youth Mobility; Training and Networking for Youth Workers). The application deadline is 2 February. A draft application will soon be uploaded.

If the application is successful, all costs of the Training will be covered, including travel, board and lodging costs of the participants.

As a partner organisation, you have the following benefits:

– nominate your members as participants for the Training;
– nominate your members as trainers;
– approve the final version of the programme;
– no financial obligations of any kind.

At the same time, the only condition is that as a partner, you promote the Training among your members and your wider networks.

Ideal partners

In principle, we are willing to work with any organisation that is sincerely interested in the project. Your motivation is our main criterion!

Apart from that, we will give preference to partners that have experience in the fields of non-formal education, international youth work, and of course election observation.

Our intention is to balance EU and non-EU members among the countries represented. Ideally, the Erasmus+ application is supported by 4 organisations from within and 4 from outside the European Union.

Contact

If you are interested or if you have any questions, please contact our coordinator Gianni Dibiase at gianni.dibiase@aegee.org.
